Today is Malala Day!

Malala Yousafzai was a 14 year old schoolgirl in Pakistan, who was brutally shot by the Taliban for promoting girls' education in her country.  Did know that girls in Pakistan may not get the same education as the boys do?  Not just in Pakistan either, all across the globe girls are denied the simple opportunity to go to school!

So today we are spreading the word about Malala Day.  Celebrate with me as we stand together by signing a petition to urge Pakistan to deliver education to every child. The petition will be given to Pakistan's president by former UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.

The Election is OVER!

I have to tell you that I am really happy the election is finally over.  No matter what candidate won I am happy to end the stress, and the political negative campaigns that were literally invading my life!

Phone calls LATE at night just to "axe" me who I would be voting for.  (That really is a huge pet peeve of mine.  Please don't say axe when you mean ask!  UGH!)

Countless pieces of junk mail from both parties wanting my vote but using negative political ads that just waste paper because I toss them in the garbage.   Maybe next time I will have to figure some clever creative idea to recycle all that junk ad paper in to Christmas cards?????

Then the TV and Radio campaign ads...ALL OF THEM NEGATIVE!    What a downer when I am driving my son to school or going to work.  No one wants to start their day with that junk I had to shut off the radio and we listened to Christian CDS for most of the last month.  It was just wearing me down.

My personal Facebook was overwhelmed with everyone's opinion and some of them were also negative as well.  I really think you can engage in a political conversion with out being crass or so negative.

I am not an Obama supporter.  I really don't like him at all.  But the reasons I don't like him are not the ones found on the negative campaign ads.  This is where I think we fail as voters.  Everyone that I spoke to that wanted to sway my vote could only quote the sound bites from the negative campaign ads.  This bothers me.  Are we as Americans SO lazy that we cannot do a bit of research on the candidates before we cast our vote?   I teach my son not to believe any commercial on TV.  You really cannot.  They don't always give you the whole truth, especially political campaign ads.  Those have a tendency to REALLY twist the truth to a GIANT extreme.

I hope that in the elections that are in our future we can stop the media bias and select a candidate with a good honest choice that we have really researched in a number of places.

World Humanitarian Day This Sunday!

This Sunday, August 19th the United Nations will launch World Humanitarian Day.  I love to participate in something good.  I hope that this campaign is all it says it is because I love the message;
1 Billion People with one message, helping one another.

You can join me and millions of others by celebrating this day and those that help.   Go to whd-iwashere.org,  sign up, tweet, post and get involved.

The idea is everyone everywhere do something good basically.  Make a difference, help someone, make a small change.  One billion people making a tiny little change in their world makes a HUGE difference in the grand scheme of things don't you think?

Everyone's tweets and Facebook posts or other social media messages will be shared all at the same time on Sunday along with a special Humanitarian Day performance by BeyoncĂ©.

News You Can Use

As a Mom we are so diverse there is so much more way more than what meets the eye.   But one thing we all share and have in common as parents is we want the best for our children.  That sometimes involves us in passionate causes.  The logic and reason being that if we make the world a better place somehow our own children will have a great place to live in and live out their lives in.

Saving money or saving the world should be all part of our Mommy lives because of that common ground of giving our children the best.   Some of the news was receive by the mainstream media seems to be filtered so much that I am not sure I trust all of the information completely.  Or the information is one sided and we cannot see the whole picture.   I try to gather information from a wide range of sources to try and get the most complete picture of what is actually going on, and I want to start sharing that information with you.

I hope as parents you can find the time to do the same.  We need to be well informed to know what to do to protect and education our families.   Providing the best for our children requires information to base many of our everyday decisions.   Like for instance the drought throughout the nation has recently adversely affected the food crops so that means we can see higher prices for the products and food you are using.   If you are paying attention to those kinds of news stories you know to start adding a few more items in your cart now to save you money later.

Buy two bags of flour instead of one when you go to get flour.  Or maybe Cereal is on sale now for $1.88 a box so you should stock up and get several boxes to save.

Other news I am thinking of sharing with you is little tid bit articles from several random sources that help paint the picture of the state of our nation which will affect all our lives.  Information on how to keep your family safe.  Information on how to be prepared.   School information.   Recalls for products we as Moms may currently purchase or have in our home.   Just random news a Mom may need in her life.  Good new is always something I look for too because sometimes in order to keep ratings up I find the terrible or the most scandalizing news stories take center stage in mainstream media to get our attention.

I am not turning into a news channel by any means but I just want to share with you as one mom to another.  It will be random, and just bits from here and there that I don't see in the main stream news or something interesting that pertains to our life as Moms.   I hope that Dad's are never offended when I say Moms because it really just goes without saying it is a parenting thing not just a Mommy thing I just happen to be a Mom and that is what I relate to most.
